I’ve found that you get out of yoga just as much as you put in. If you go in with a lazy mindset, you can just half-ass everything you are doing and really gain nothing from the experience. If you go into your yoga class with the mind set to meditate and release the stress from your day, you really can do it! If you go in with the mindset of getting a good stretch and workout, you can do that too. I really love yoga classes. I feel no judgement, even when I am using my plus size modifiers. In general, the groups and very accepting and encouraging.
I urge you to find a group class to go to! Local gyms or community centers offer them, sometimes work groups or church groups have them as well. You will gain many, many things from yoga practice, but the best thing I have gained thus far is the importance of accepting my body in a crowd with many other bodies.
Below you will find a typical outfit I wear to yoga. A t-shirt, leggings, and shoes (that I usually remove, AKA that you don’t need) are all this outfit involves. See below for outfit details!
- Shirt- Mossimo (Target) (Similar)
- (Wearing 4X) You can basically wear any black t-shirt. When I purchased this, I was grabbing something quick in downtown Chicago to cover up my booty when the shirt I had on was not doing the trick. So I purchased the shirt 2-3 sizes bigger than usual. I am very grateful, because although it was WAY too big that first time I wore it, after it was washed and dried it shrunk up to be my most comfortable, and probably most worn, t-shirt.
- Leggins- Calvin Klein (Similar)
- (Wearing 1X) Gah! When I saw these online I knew I had to have them! The ombre effect from the top to the bottom, dark gray to light is AMAZING. I knew I had to have them. When I got them in the mail, they fit like a glove. I think they are perfect for yoga or pilates or other similar classes because they come up higher on the waist and stay in place. I can’t get over how much I love them!
- Shoes- Nike Studio Wrap Pack 2
- (Wearing 7.5) How cute are these? They are studio shoes, which means they are great for anything you would usually do barefoot. (Barre classes, yoga, dancing, etc.) I used them for yoga once and found that I prefer barefoot, but the cushion on the balls and heels of your feet will make them very comfortable to wear for dancing, or if you have foot issues already.
