Last weekend, I had the pleasure of escorting Mell and another friend (Courtney) to Chicago. They had tickets to see Bob Saget, but I have a car that gets CRAZY good gas milage, and no doubt, I am better suited for the aggressive Chicago driving. Plus, I’m up for an adventure pretty much ALL the time, and if it’s to Chicago, I’m even more in.
The day was FREEZING, so my face was all wind-burnt all day. So that was whatever. We weren’t downtown, but we were south of downtown (in the area surrounding Thalia Hall.)
Our first stop was at a Mexican resturant. It wasn’t planned, and really…it was a poor choice. We ended up with delicious (but overpriced) margs, and a plate of melted-ish cheese and pickled carrots and chilles? I have no idea what it was, but it tasted…ok?
We went on to browse some thrift shops, wander about, stopped in to a few other restaurants for drinks and apps at random. The last stop before the gals went to see Bob was at a bar underground. Sounds intense, huh? It was called Punch House, and they served some really cool craft cocktails! I enjoyed mine (Oxford Punch) a lot, but the girls tried a few and couldn’t find a happy spot. Bummer, but I think they were just so excited to see the show that they didn’t even care! I decided to leave them there and then go out on my own to paint the town red.
Have I ever told you all that I love being alone in the city? Any city, really. I think there is something to be said about getting out and exploring on your own every now and then. This time, I popped on my floral Adidas trainers (a gift from my husband) and went about on my little journey. I decided to get a tattoo! (Thank you, Ricky from Taylor Street Tattoo!)
It says “heavy into everything” which is a lyric quote from the song Neon by John Mayer. You have to know at this point that I love me some John Mayer. His music is always my happy music, my sad music, and everything in between. I knew I wanted this quote for well over a year now, and I had known I wanted a John quote for well over 5 years! I finally decided and am SO happy with the choice.
After it was all done, I went to a bar, had some amazing tea and a cocktail (with rosemary and lemon in it- mmm!) and a bartender treated me! It was nice to talk to a stranger! And, oh yeah! My friends got called out of the audience to personally meet Bob Saget. How cool is that??
Well, if you follow me on social media, you will know that I went to Chicago again this past weekend, so if you want to know more about my “luxury” trip, check back later this week!
