My favorite hairstyle is perfect for half lazy gals like myself. This style really is the best in so many ways. It’s in style right now, so you can knock off the trendy box. It’s quick to do, so who doesn’t want a beautiful hairstyle that’s also quick and easy? Lastly, it is perfect for 2nd or 3rd or…even 4th day dirty hair! You can pull the top greasy part up, but then the bottom half can be styled.
I’m telling you, the half up, half down top knot is where it is! That is precisely why I want to do a step by step tutorial that is right on trend for the Spring and Summer. Check out the steps below to give yourself this edgy, trendy style!
Half Up, Half Down Top Knot
Start with your hair down and brushed through. I’ve been using the Goody® Clean Radiance™ Paddle Brush. The copper bristles massage the scalp and work through the hair to reduce buildup and restore your hair’s natural moisture balance. Plus it’s white and copper, which is SO chic.
Use your pointer fingers at your temple to part your hair in a crescent shape. I like to find the line right near the end of my brows to make sure it’s even on both sides.
Swoop all the hair up, and put it into a half ponytail. The higher on top of your head, the better.
Secure it with an elastic. I really like using one that is the same color as my hair, or newly, these Goody SlideProof Silicone Clear Ponytailers.
Depending on how much hair you have, you may want to tease the hair in the ponytail. Since it’s a half top knot, you just don’t have as much hair to work with as you do a regular top knot.
Create a bun shape by twisting your hair around the center of the ponytail and wrapping it around the elastic. Secure it with a few pins.
If you have enough hair, you could even use one of the Goody Simple Styles Hair Spin Pins, which are AMAZING for securely holding styles in place. If your bun is large enough to hold one or two of those, I highly recommend.
When it comes to the bottom portion of your hair, you can wear it straight, or style it as you please. I like to use the beachy wave curl I taught you all a few weeks ago. I LOVE the easy look, and think it really compliments the top knot.
Helpful Tip! If you find that your bun isn’t standing up quite as tall as you had wished, you can always take a Goody Classic Claw Clip and use it at the back of your bun. It will help push it up and hold your bun in place all day.
Sounds pretty easy, right? I hope you guys try this style out and enjoy it.
Lovely!
This is my go to hair style!
