Please tell me you’ve watched the Weekend Update on SNL before. I swear, it’s always my favorite segment, and even if I don’t watch the full show (which happens a lot,) I always try to watch the Updates. I can’t lie, Seth Myers was my favorite, but Colin Jost is pretty okay. The one thing I’ve had a hard time without is frequent updates from Stefon, played by Bill Hader.
I laugh and laugh at each line, so if you’re having a bad week or a rough day, just check out some Stefon clips. Just do me a favor and watch one, but I can’t promise you won’t get addicted!
ANYWAY, my weekend wasn’t spent at any strange clubs, but it was an awesome one! My husband and I played some tennis and we went to a new diner in the Indianapolis metro area!
My husband has been asking to play tennis for YEARS. I mean, I think we have talked about playing tennis since before we met and I never have. I mean, for the last few years, I’ve been so unhealthy that it would have been hard. But with my continued weight loss, I got out there like a CHAMP and did the damn thing.
I was WAY better than I ever remember being, but really, that isn’t saying much. I’ve never been great at sports-ing. But I feel like I can move faster and last longer at this point, which is ultra-exciting! We have already played another time, even, with our 16 year old “daughter.”
Also, how much of a BABE is my husband? I just love him. His penchant for matching is just adorable. Check the hat/watch/tennis racket combo! He’s the real deal, guys. Also, we look like a walking ad for Nike, but no hate. If Nike wants to sponsor us, hit me up, guys! We are all ears. ;)
On Sunday, we went to the park we met at for a walk. The shortened version of us meeting is that we met online, then met at this park in real life and walked for about FOUR HOURS. My foot was bleeding from the walking and he was having back spasms and we just kept going. A few months later, he proposed in the same park, so it’s got a special place in our hearts. I took at photo at the Sunken Gardens for West Elm’s Love Local campaign while I was there! It’s DEFINITELY the best spot in the whole city.
Now for the delicious part, Sunday dinner. We were invited out to Metro Diner, which is a staple diner in the Indy area. They have opened a new location in Plainfield, so we were excited to go check it out!
Metro Diner is known for their DELICIOUS food and generous portions, and we were pleased on both ends. I had the chicken and waffles, and to be honest, I am usually more of a chicken girl. I like my meat more than my carbs, and it’s not because I usually don’t eat much carbs, it’s just how I am. The chicken was so good, fried perfectly, juicy and flavorful, but the waffles with the strawberry butter? They took the cake. They were the best thing on the whole table.
Brett had a HUGE pancake and a big, ole burger. This burger had 2 grilled cheese sandwiches for buns! He was impressed that his burger was cooked exactly how he wanted it, which is always a struggle for him at restaurants, even burger joints. He finished the meal off with a piece of key lime pie.
As many of you know, I am a weight loss surgery patient, so I can’t eat much- only about 5 ounces. But let me tell you, I’ve made my chicken & waffles into 4 meals, and my husband and kid both ate a piece of my chicken as well. It was huge and impressive. If I splurge on a meal, I want it to be WORTH it, and I will tell you- Metro Diner is worth it!
