I’ve been curious to try out HelloFresh for a while now. If you don’t know what HelloFresh is, it’s a food subscription service that delivers ALL the ingredients to make pre-set meals fresh to your door directly. They have a few options for plans: the Classic plan for 2 people, the Veggie plan for 2 or 4 people, or the Family plan for 4 people. You can choose whether you want 2-3 meals for the week, when you want it delivered, and even pre-select the meals for the week! I chose to go in blind and get a box of surprises, which I love, because I probably would have stuck to safer options than I received.
In this post, I am going to share with you the meals that I received, how I modified my servings to be low carb, and what the pricing really looks like. If this is something that interests you, read on below!
HELLOFRESH – THE MEALS
The meals delivered were Sweet ‘n Savory Chicken Fried Rice, Italian Ciabatta Cheeseburgers, and Apple Pork Tenderloin. They were all SO SIMPLE to make, tasted AMAZING, and only took me around 20-30 minutes to prepare each of them.
Sweet ‘n Savory Chicken Fried Rice
To be fair, I forgot to add in my pineapple, so mine wasn’t sweet, but I LOVED it without the pineapple in it anyway. I imagine it might have made it 10X better, but I ate it on the side and all was right with the world. This dish came with Uncle Ben’s Jasmine rice, which I LOVE, but I am currently on a #NOFLUFFCHALLENGE right now, so I subbed in some cauliflower rice. It was still delicious, but boy- that rice would have been BOMB in the dish!
Italian Ciabatta Cheeseburgers
Now, this was my favorite meal, even though I ate it without the bun. The burgers were juicy and delicious. I love that the meat HelloFresh provides is amazing quality. My family wasn’t having the sautéed red onion, but that just means more for me! I loved the TINY little bottles of balsamic vinaigrette, and the salad dressing that I whipped up in just a minute was so good!!
Apple Pork Tenderloin
This one was the pleasant surprise for me. I don’t usually love the sweet and savory combo, but I really liked this! Another thing I loved was the potato and cauliflower mash. I loved the sneaky add in of the cauliflower, because I really didn’t notice it at all. The apple on top of the pork could have been eaten by the spoonful as a dessert! As a matter of fact, I probably will take this (and many other things) away as stand-alone recipes in my kitchen!
HELLO FRESH- THE FUNDS
As you all know, I am on a bit of a budget journey. I have been pairing down my grocery budget and being VERY tight on my meal prep. There is no denying that Hello Fresh is an investment. I am not planning on getting HelloFresh as a weekly part of my routine, but there are times when I think Hello Fresh would be an awesome addition to your meal plan. (If you just get home from vacation and need groceries, if you have a really busy week but still want fresh cooked food, if you are having a small dinner party (4 people) and want to impress, if you are ready to mix up your normal routine, etc.)
The plans break down to $8.74-9.99 per serving. I’m impressed with the quality, ease, and deliciousness, so if you try it out, I know you won’t be disappointed! Let me know if you have or would try below.
That looks sooo good! Great post!
This look amazing!!
Great post! Looks so yummy! We’ve been looking something like this for our meals so we’ll have to check it out!!
This looks so amazing! I’ve heard so many good things about Hello Fresh! I’ve just never had to the chance to try it!! Your pictures are amazing! Makes me hungry!
Thanks for the info! Been wondering about Hello Fresh ?
I’ve always wanted to try this kind of service. This momma needs pre-planned healthy meals! I’m going to have to give Hello Fresh a try.
I’ve tried Blue Apron but I feel like it takes me forever to cook the things because of the prep work. I’m not a beginner chef anymore so it hasn’t been forever, but still too long.
Giiiiirl… I may have to try this out!!!
