Wouldn’t the world just rock 10X harder if we were all assigned a maid? Or if the universe just did it’s thing and made all the messes go away? Well, yeah, it sure would! But guess what? That’s not how things work. I can attest to being one of the messiest humans on earth. If you could see my side of the bedroom versus my husband’s, you would be concerned. I am VERY organized, but also VERY messy. I’m not sure how it makes sense, but it’s my reality, my daily struggle, so we will roll with it.
One of the places I do try to keep clean at all times is the kitchen. With my natural, messy nature, it can be tough to remember all the little things that go into keeping a kitchen tidy without spending a whole day every weekend dedicated only to making my kitchen inhabitable again. I’m vowing to change my ways, and it’s all starting with a good, healthy dose of organization. If I set goals down in front of me, then I know I am much more likely to stick to them.
I’ve created a Weekly/Monthly Kitchen Chore Chart that is guaranteed to rock your socks. (You can download the chart here, or open it in Canva here to edit it for your own kitchen needs!) It will help you get into a routine, prioritize tasks, and keep track of the things that you’ve done or need to do for the week or month.
I’m partnered with Scotch-Brite® Scrub Dots from Target for this post, and I couldn’t ASK for a better partner. Not only am I a huge fan of Scotch-Brite® in general, but the Scrub Dots Sponges are such an awesome way to make kitchen cleaning a bit more easy! Please read on to see a bit more in depth of my daily, weekly, and monthly kitchen cleaning tasks.
Setting Tasks
I love the idea of making smaller tasks for each day, so you don’t end up spending your whole day on just cleaning the kitchen. Before you know it, the day is over and you have to turn around and do the same thing a few days later. By spreading out the tasks, you can keep your routine consistent, within a reasonable amount of allotted time, and you will keep your kitchen cleaner longer.
DAILY TASKS
- DISHES
- WIPE DOWN COUNTER TOPS
- CLEAR OFF KITCHEN TABLE
Some things just have to be done daily, or every other day, depending on how often you use your kitchen. I find that keeping up on my dishes, keeping my counters clear and clean, and keeping my kitchen table tidy are the number one things I want done on a day to day basis.
WEEKLY TASKS
- MONDAY– SWEEP/MOP FLOOR
- TUESDAY– CLEAN OUT MICROWAVE
- WEDNESDAY– CLEAN STOVE TOP
- THURSDAY– CLEAN SURFACES
- FRIDAY– SWEEP/MOP FLOOR
- SATURDAY– ORGANIZE ONE AREA
- SUNDAY– CLEAR OUT REFRIGERATOR
You can customize this list as it fits your family! You could even add different people for different days! My husband does the trash and helps with the daily tasks and things throughout the house, so most of these tasks are things I tackle on my own, especially since we don’t have my cousin living with us anymore to do these as chores.
I love the addition of cleaning surfaces, which include the trash can lid, shelves, small appliances, etc. The Saturday “Organize One Area” is a must for me, since I am naturally a messy gal. It’s nice to have a list telling me specifically to take the time to tackle one spot in the kitchen that may have gotten out of hand.
MONTHLY TASKS
- CLEAN BASEBOARDS
- WIPE DOWN CABINETS
- CLEAN OUT REFRIGERATOR
These are tasks that I always forget about until it’s months later and my baseboards are covered in dust and cat hair, my cabinets have splatters down the front, and my refrigerator shelves are looking less than appetizing.
This is such a great post! I definitely need to get better with creating a list that will keep me on track. And those scrub things look like they come in great handy!
I really love this checklist! Such a great way to stay organized and keep things tidy! {client}
