My choice of vacation is USUALLY a road trip. I mean, that is when I can’t afford to go international, which is almost always! Impromptu trips are awesome because they are chill, give you a lot of time to connect with whoever you’re traveling with, listen to some serious jams, and of course, snack like a crazy person.
This blog post, How to Create the Perfect Day Trip Vibe, is in collaboration with Circle K and Cheetos® Sweetos™. Read on below to see how I set the vibe up to be SWEET whether the trip is 2 hours or 12 hours!
SNACK CITY
Yeah, snacks deserves to be number one. When I think of day trips, I always think of stopping off at the Circle K to grab some delicious snacks. First step, a delicious beverage, and right now some Circle K® stores have an exclusive Cinnamon Sugar Sweetos™ Froster!
Now for snacking, in particular, I love SWEET and CRUNCHY, so imagine my joy when I popped into my local Circle K to see the Cinnamon Sugar & Caramel Puffs flavored Cheetos® Sweetos™ Bags? It was the perfect combo for me!
Other snacks I like to have on the go are some gummies and salty snacks like pretzels. I also love to keep lots of water, some apples, and jerky on the go to keep sustained for those longer trips. My suggestion is to get a small cooler or lunch bag to keep your water and apples cool.
DAY TRIP MUSIC
Having the perfect music is an underrated part of taking a long trip. If you have boring, slow, or lifeless songs, the driver may start to get sleepy and the passengers may just conk out for a whole-trip nap! That’s never a good thing! My suggestion is to make a fun playlist once you get going on the trip. You can be as relaxed about this list or make some rules, but the point is for everyone to take turns choosing songs they like. It really helps to mix things up, instead of one person choosing everything, and then everyone knows they have some songs they can look forward to!
My husband and I made it a rule that we could only use an artist ONE time, so if I chose Drake’s “God’s Plan,” then he couldn’t choose Drake’s “Legend.” It helped us to keep it mixed up and made it more of a game to create the list. That way, making the list itself was some entertainment for the road trip!
PIT STOPS
I’m not one to shy away from planning stops along the way on my road trip. Actually, my husband is the one who actually wants to stop at every casino or outlet mall within reach, but I secretly love it. It’s nice to be able to get out of the car, do some walking, stretching, and something other than just sitting around in the car and chilling. Fresh air is always nice, and retail therapy is always welcome and refreshing, in my opinion!
GETTING COMFY
Whenever I am getting ready for a road trip, I always imagine wearing a sundress or a really cool outfit so that when we stop along the way I look super cool, but it’s just not realistic! I have transitioned to leggings or really comfy jeans when I am feeling *extra fancy.* I like to put on a comfy t-shirt and layer with a sweater, so I’m prepared for high air conditioner temps, windows down, or whatever is thrown our way.
Besides what to wear, it’s also about what you BRING. I hardly ever wear socks on a daily basis, but I always take some with me on road trips to get comfy. I bring a small blanket, so I can curl up, and usually some sort of small pillow to help change positions a bit. Getting comfy can also mean bringing extra things to get you into a chill, comfy mood. Bring a book, a journal, some magazines, or something else to wind down and drown out the surroundings when everything seems *too much.*
POSITIVE VIBES ONLY
Being in the right mindset can really make a road trip that much better. How many times have you gotten in the car after arguing over leaving late or packing issues or something of the sort and the whole road trip vibe is just off? My suggestion is to plan well in advance for packing, stops you need to make on the way out of town. You could even pack the car up the night before so you don’t have as much stressing to do on the day of the big trip!
When you get in the car, put on your happy face, breathe positivity into existence, and enjoy your trip!
Wait.. sweetos? Just when I thought cheetos changed my life with flaming hots.. they’ve gone and done it again! Can’t wait to try these.

Yes!! The snacks are essential. Love that you mentioned that first.
these are great! I know on road trips I like to bring a book of questions too… always starts good debates!
I love the road trip music playlist idea. Although I’m not sure I would like any of my husbands picks.
That’s when you put the list on shuffle and hope and PRAY all your picks come up first!!! Haha
