I am a major New Year’s lover. As a Capricorn, planner extraordinaire, I am in love with making resolutions, plans for the future, reflecting on my year and figuring out how I can improve on the year to come. I love everything about the idea of starting with a fresh new year!
While I say all this, I do understand that there are many, many people who get overwhelmed with making resolutions. I think it’s important to take an overall look at your life, then realize that there are simple resolutions you can make that will be an easy step toward an overall goal. You can start with something small to implement that could end up becoming a habit, which is the ultimate goal!
For this post, I have partnered with Nume to share my 5 simple resolutions to help “straighten” out your life in 2019. (See what I did there?) Check out my suggested resolutions below!
WAKE UP 15 MINUTES EARLIER
I am horrible when it comes to waking up in the morning. I thought “after I have a kid, surely I will be better at waking up.” Come to find out, I’ve just gotten REALLY EFFICIENT about getting myself and my child ready to leave the house! Giving myself as little as 15 extra minutes in the morning should help ease the “rushed” feeling and maybe even allow for a tiny bit of ME time. (Here’s to hoping!)
PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER IN A FLASH
I know myself well enough to know that I will not put makeup on every single morning. I cannot even attempt committing to that kind of effort, but I know that I can commit to making my hair look good and styled in something other than a frizzy bun.
My biggest partner in pulling myself together has been my Nume Megastar Hair Straightener. It warms up in a flash, has a digital temperature display, and even works to condition your hair over time!
The Megastar has negative ion conditioning technology, which maintains moisture and eliminates frizz by sealing the hair’s cuticle while boosting shine. This magical straightener also boasts an Ion Booster that amplifies the effects of negative ion conditioning with an increase in the release of negative ions.
If you only have 2 minutes to pull yourself together, then run the straightener from root to tip for a sleek look. If you have a few extra minutes, angle the iron and wrap 1-2″ pieces around the straightener while pulling it down for waves or curls!
FOCUS ON INTUITIVE EATING
Instead of torturing your mind and body by swearing you will stick to the next fad diet, why not try looking at food as fuel and eating intuitively? Take the time to listen to your body. Chances are, it will tell you what kind of foods you’re craving to use as fuel. It takes the pressure off and allows you to have a night out or enjoy your holidays and indulge a little without “feeling bad.”
MAKE & STICK TO YOUR TO DO LIST
I am a bonafide list-making addict, so this one is really me projecting my habits to you! But you know what? It works for me, so I’ll suggest it all day! If you are not good with long, working lists, you can try one of two other options I have tried and love:
- LIST OF 3: Just make a list of 3 things per day you want or need to get done. Don’t sleep until they are done. They can be as simple as taking the time to wash your face or as complicated as painting your bathroom. Whatever you want to accomplish, whittle it down to 3 things and make them happen.
- NOW & LATER LIST: This one is awesome because it helps you prioritize things. When you think of something you need to write on your to do list, you either write it in a list to do ASAP or a list that needs to be done within the week or month, but not something urgent. This will help you compartmentalize those things and only focus on the NOW and give yourself some slack to put other tasks aside and be present in your life.
VISIT A NEW PLACE EACH MONTH
It’s not feasible to go on an adventure each month for every person. My adventures typically consist of being one state over, but I’m finding more and more that there is joy in just going to a new place, no matter WHAT that place is. One month, you may be able to go to a new beach or park in a different state, but another month you may go to a local grocery store instead of your usual Target grocery run. It doesn’t sound that exciting, but a change of scenery is good for the soul- even if it’s just a new grocery store.
I hope this list is simple enough to implement one or more of these resolutions into your new year! I love goal-setting and find the positive in doing so, but it can be overwhelming! I urge you to set a goal for the new year, even if it is just something simple.
