The combination of the popularity of grocery delivery + sustainability seems to make sense with Imperfect Foods. I’m so happy that they wanted to partner with me so I could share them with you since sustainability and grocery shopping and budgeting is a passion of mine! FYI, I was compensated with credit to the service, not in additional payment.
If you don’t know what Imperfect Foods is, their mission is to eliminate food waste and build a better food system for everyone. How do they do that? They are selling produce and other items that may not be desirable for other retailers. Something they may sell would be overstocked berries or cans of food, misshapen apples, limes that a just a tad too small, a potato with some scarring, etc. This helps to get rid of food waste at the store, on the farm, and at home!
I had my first delivery on Friday, so I thought I would share the unboxing and haul with you through a video, which you can see below. I have to say, it was not an amazing first experience, but customer service was great and helped make my issue better by issuing a full refund for the box and an additional $3 credit for my troubles.
Long story short, a glass jar I ordered had broken and was all over my food. Again, not ideal. But most of it was still okay, and they did the refund quickly! I wanted to reach out to customer service instead of the ladies working in PR to get a more authentic version of what would happen for a “regular customer.”
With all that being said, further down, you can see a breakdown of pricing as well. (Of course this was refunded, but for your information.) Remember, you can get your FIRST box for $10 off just by using the code: PRETTYPLUS
When you sign up, they will let you know which day your delivery will be on. My delivery comes on Friday. You can skip as many weeks between as you want to, or you can get a delivery once per week. There is a $30 minimum and if you spend over $50, they waive the delivery fee!
I found that this time, it didn’t make sense for us to spend $50 just to hit the number, so I got right around $30, then I got an email telling me my delivery was done, but they couldn’t fulfill one item. It took me under $30, but that was okay! Not my fault, and I wasn’t charged for the item.
You can see everything we purchased and the price below if you’re interested. Remember, that prices and availability will differ per area. Again, if you want to sign up for Imperfect Foods, please use my $10 off code (PRETTYPLUS) to get $10 and let them know I sent you!
