New You in 2014: How to Get Active for (Basically) Free (Part 2)

Yesterday was long and stressful and by the time I got around to blogging, I was just worn out. By my own mistake, I didn’t include a lot of the free or nearly free resources for working out that I wanted to. So if you want to read my first five, you can here. If you are aching for some more ideas, please read below.

6. YouTube: There are a bajillion workout videos on YouTube. If you want workouts specifically for plus size women, they have it. They have exercise videos for basically any walk of life. And the BEST part is that it’s FREE.

7. Take a Hike: Walking burns calories. If you want something low impact, head on out to your local park or trails and take a walk. Power walk with your friends or your thoughts or some music. It gets you moving, doesn’t it? It gets you outside instead of in front of your tv, doesn’t it? Yes…So get lost. Take a hike!

8. There’s an App for That: There are a lot of apps out there that are free of charge and are geared toward getting your butt in shape. Want to run a 5k? (I don’t.) But there is Couch to 5K just for that reason. I really like the app called Sworkout. It’s a circuit in app form. You can put in the kind of workout you want and the amount of time you want to spend. They give you instructions for things you might not know how to do, as well! The possibilities are endless. Just search in your app store for free workout apps, and you will see hundreds!

9. Dance, Dance: Have a dance party! For me, it’s just about weekly that I get to have a dance party with Lola. Dancing burns a lot of calories, so put on your favorite jams and dance around the house while you’re cleaning! Or just for fun.
